PROFESSIONAL TEETH WHITENING

Teeth whitening is an aesthetic procedure of dentistry, which is very popular in the world, while the whitening effect depends on several basic factors. Through it, stains and discolorations are removed from the teeth, which are layered over time under the influence of various factors, such as:

 - Food: consumption of pigmented food and drinks such as coffee, tea, red wine, chocolate, carrots and others color the teeth, while acidic foods such as lemon, orange and vinegar cause tooth erosion;
- Tobacco: nicotine layers on the teeth and makes them browner;
- Age: with age, the enamel (outer layer) of the tooth loses its transparency as it thins and in this way, the dentine, which is under the enamel and is yellower, becomes more visible;

How does bleaching happen (work)?

The materials used for whitening are: Carbamide Peroxide and Hydrogen Peroxide (oxygenated water). These two substances have the ability (quality) to pass freely through the layers of the tooth (enamel, dentine) and spread to all parts of the tooth. These Peroxides (Carbamide and Hydrogen peroxide) break down into oxygen radicals, which enter between the prisms of the enamel (the outer layer of the tooth), dispersing (destroying) the colored molecules that affect the color of the tooth.

Bleaching does not affect the structure of the tooth, only that the inner color of the tooth becomes more (lighter) white.

Whitening agents break down into smaller molecules and move in all directions within the tooth. Even if the entire tooth is not covered with bleach, it is all whitened.

Numerous scientific studies have proven the effectiveness of peroxides in teeth whitening.

Enamel and dentin (the two layers of the tooth), existing fillings and porcelain are not affected, affected or damaged by bleaching agents.
